Bra saves woman’s life, lifts and separates stray bullet during shootout

In Salvador, the capital of the Brazilian state Bahia, 58-year-old Ivonete Pereira was traveling via bus to her summer home in the nearby town of Lauro de Freitas with a wad of cash in the left cup of her wonder bra.

When the bus passed through Boca do Rio, a gang of thieves announced their presence by firing at a police officer who was riding on the bus. After exchanging several rounds, a stray bullet hit Miss Pereira directly in the breast, but its purpose was thwarted by the cash she kept in her bra, preventing it from penetrating too deeply, and saving her life.

A retired police sergeant was shot dead during the clash with the assailants.
